For centuries Poria Cocos has been used as a valuable food source. Also known as Fu Ling, Tuckahoe, Indian bread, Hoelen or the more recognized Wolfiporia extensa, this sclerotium is the most used mushroom throughout Asia and is traditionally mixed with a variety of herbs in formula. One of the primary longevity herbs, Poria grows on the roots of old pine trees and is said to enhance the Qi of internal organs, strengthen the Spleen, transform dampness, stabilize the Spirit, and calm the mind. While highly nourishing and once used as a food source by our indigenous people, it is highly respected in clinical application and is currently undergoing much acclaim for its medicinal properties in a wide variety of areas.
