You may have heard about the amazing anti-inflammatory benefits of turmeric but did you also know it is amazing for your heart? Research in the American Journal of Hypertension in June 2012 showed that a combined exercise and curcumin program significantly slowed age-related degeneration in the heart. Turmeric milk is a traditional Indian and Ayurvedic beverage that is typically drunk before bed. It's warm and cozy and is sure to become a favourite. Don't leave out the fresh ground pepper, it enhances the absorption of the curcumin.

Ingredients2 cups coconut milk 2 tbsp honey 1 tbsp coconut butter or coconut oil 1 tsp grated turmeric 1 tsp grated ginger pinch of sea salt and fresh ground pepper 1 tsp vanilla extract ground cinnamon |

Instructions:In a saucepan add all ingredients, except honey, and whisk together. Heart over medium heart until milk starts to simmer. Turn heat to low and continue to heat for at least 5 minutes. Flavor intensifies with steeping time. Strain out the ginger. Add honey and stir. Top with ground cinnamon.
